If you’ve finished my titles and are chomping at the bit for more, I thought I’d share the love and give some props to some of the books that have moved me in the last year or two. Here are some of my favorites! =)
Absolutely Positively
by Jayne Ann Krentz
Why I like it
Sigh. How much do I love this story? Let me count the ways. Heroine who owns a tea shop—talk about fantasy wish fulfillment! Hero who’s all about the facts, and also family? Swoon. And mix in a little paranormal darkness and mystery? I’m a goner.
While this was written in the 90s, it’s mostly aged well (although cell phones have sure changed). I adored this couple, and I love the touch of paranormal JAK brings to this book and ones like it.
Beauty and the Geek
by Sidney Bristol
Why I like it
This book is insanely sexy. Robotics were never quite this exciting. Someone should make the device featured in the first scene, pronto! But more seriously, I love how this story deals with both geekery but also how our outward appearance conflicts and complements who we are on the inside, as well as how it can get in the way of true intimacy. Or any kind of intimacy for that matter. Wish it had been a little longer but overall this was super fun, and I can’t wait to dig into the whole series.
The Tracker’s Dilemma
by Ruby Lionsdrake
Why I like it
This one actually caught me a bit off guard. I enjoyed the entire Mandrake Company series from Ruby Lionsdrake, but I’ve included on this list my favorites that I feel feature especially geeky characters. The scientist heroine of this book just really cracked me up but also made me love her for her somewhat innocent, straightforward ways. Add in a sweet, honorable soldier hero who’s determined to protect her? YUM. A very brief shoulder massage has never been so scintillating.
Trial and Temptation
by Ruby Lionsdrake
Why I like it
Okay, I’m kinda a fan of Lionsdrake if you couldn’t tell. If these seem up your alley, I’d recommend the whole series, but I especially loved Gregor and Val’s predicament in this one. I guess I’m a sucker for a hero who can’t quite articulate his feelings. Or any feelings. Add in a dash of workplace romance in space, as well as action adventure, and mmmm that’s the stuff. ^_^
The Theory of Attraction
Why I like it
This series by Delphine Dryden is awesome! Short reads with lots of kink, I loved rich the stories are and the sweetness mixed with passion. Also I love how they each have deep things to say about what makes one kink or another so damn great, which is something many people struggle to understand about themselves and others. While I didn’t love Camilla at the beginning, especially how she was always shocked that someone could both be smart and in good shape and seemed to want geeks to fit into really silly stereotypes at times, her discovery of kink is super cool and amazing and sweet, and I’d definitely recommend it.
